The Song ‘Ignite’ by Zedd – Oscar’s goosebump moment

(text video)

“Hi! My name is Oscar. I’m from Mexico and my goosebump moments when listening to music was when I started playing League of Legends in 2013. In 2015, I saw my first huge tournament, 2016 came, and the song ‘Ignite’ by Zedd is the one used for the whole campaign. The video is a recap of everything that happened the year before. So when I was listening to that beat, to that song, and watched the video, I don’t know how to explain it. It goes like that. I just wanted to play the game. I just wanted to listen to the song. It’s the scene, that recap of the first year I saw a competitive tournament. It just gives me goosebumps. In the video you can see fights that happened, you can see memes that happened. You can see there’s a part where faker, the best player in the world at that time, eats broccoli. I don’t know why they decided to put it in, but… And that’s it, that’s my goosebump moment when listening to music. Hope you like it! Listen to the song and watch the video. They’re really fun.”

One such song that did all of this and more was ‘Ignite’ by Zedd for the League of Legends World Championship in 2016.

To understand the significance of ‘Ignite’, let’s take a deep dive into the imagery used in the music video. Zedd drew inspiration from defining moments of previous World Championships, taking viewers back to 2011, which is ancient history in terms of professional League of Legends play.

One of the highlights of the video is a “Baron steal” by Brian “TheOddOne” Wyllie, where he sneaks in the final blow on a huge monster, risking his life while the entire enemy team is trying to kill it. This moment garnered cheers and applause from the crowd and cemented TheOddOne’s legacy as one of the best junglers in the game.

Another remarkable moment shown in the ‘Ignite’ video is Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s celebration of his team’s victory. The South Korean SK Telecom T1 team won the championship, and as promised earlier, Faker ate a broccoli floret! This simple act of celebration became a meme and a sign of Faker’s quirky and fun personality, endearing him to fans all over the world.

Zedd’s music and lyrics perfectly capture the essence of the World Championship, and his collaboration with Riot Games was a match made in heaven.

The song’s chorus, “We can ignite the world, and we own the night,” gets gamers pumped up and ready for the intense battles ahead. The song is a perfect representation of the determination and courage shown by esports athletes, whose passion for the game is unparalleled.

Another reason why ‘Ignite’ became so popular was that it was released on multiple platforms, such as YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music, making it accessible to fans all over the world.

The song was also played frequently during the World Championship, making viewers feel like they were part of the experience. Zedd’s performance during the opening ceremony was also unforgettable, as he played ‘Ignite’ live on stage and even interacted with a hologram dragon, adding to the spectacle.
