The Song Obim by Timi Dakolo, Ebuka & Noble Igwe – Ndisong’s goosebump moment
A Harmonious Celebration of Love and Culture
Timi Dakolo, the soulful Nigerian singer celebrated for his emotive ballads, has once again graced the music scene with a remarkable collaboration titled “Obim.” Teaming up with renowned TV host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and media personality Noble Igwe, this Igbo ballad has not only become a musical masterpiece but has also earned its place on the playlist of Nigerian traditional weddings.
Born in Accra, Ghana, to a Nigerian father and a Ghanaian mother, Timi Dakolo’s musical journey is as diverse as his heritage. Raised in Port Harcourt by his grandmother Ateni Dakolo and his aunt Susan Larry, Dakolo’s early exposure to music was shaped by the rich cultural tapestry surrounding him. Despite being born in Ghana, Dakolo proudly embraces his Nigerian identity, having declined dual citizenship and holding a Nigerian passport.
The singer’s early musical influences were deeply rooted in the church, where he began singing at the tender age of twelve. Dakolo’s passion for music flourished under the guidance of his aunt, Susan Larry, whom he credits as his first singing teacher. Their close relationship is evidenced by Dakolo’s decision to stay in Port Harcourt with his aunt and grandmother, declining an opportunity to move to Lagos with his parents.
In 2003, Timi Dakolo co-founded the singing group Purple Love, marking a significant chapter in his musical journey. The group quickly became a dominant force in the Port Harcourt club circuit, showcasing the talent that would eventually propel Dakolo to national recognition. Unfortunately, Purple Love disbanded in 2005 as its members pursued higher education at the University of Port Harcourt.
Timi Dakolo’s rise to prominence continued as he claimed victory in a local talent hunt contest called G.E FACTO, held in Port Harcourt. This win marked a pivotal moment in Dakolo’s career, setting the stage for the solo success that would follow.
“Obim,” a collaboration featuring Timi Dakolo, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and Noble Igwe, stands as a testament to the power of collective creativity. The song, adorned with soulful melodies and poignant lyrics, reflects the trio’s commitment to celebrating love and culture through music.
The song has quickly become a favorite on Nigerian traditional wedding playlists, resonating with its listeners on a deeply emotional level. The Igbo ballad not only showcases Timi Dakolo’s vocal prowess but also highlights the seamless integration of cultural elements in the collaboration with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Noble Igwe.
More About The Song “Obim” by Timi Dakolo X Ebuka X Noble Igwe:
I loved even more than you will get done right here. The picture is nice, and your writing is stylish, but you seem to be rushing through it, and I think you should give it again soon. I’ll probably do that again and again if you protect this hike.
I don’t know where you get your knowledge, but this is a really great problem. I ought to take some time to comprehend or discover more. I appreciate the wonderful information; it was exactly what I needed for my purpose.
