The dream of being at the Knotfest festival – Julio’s goosebump moment

(text video)

“Hey guys! My name is Julio; I’m from Nauru, and I’m here to tell you more about my goosebump moment. Since I was a kid, I have been a very huge fan of music, especially metal music. Bands like Slipknot, bring me the Horizon, and Trivium, among many others, changed the way that I used to look at things. But, up to this point, I wasn’t actually able to enjoy this music at a live festival as huge as the Knotfest, but that has changed now. This was, for me, one of the biggest goosebump moments I have ever had in my life. Seeing the bands I grew up listening to is just magic. Listening to the songs I used to jam to for hours and hours in my headphones makes things different. In an event like the Knotfest, it’s just something people need to live. I know there are people out there trying to make a dream like this come true and believe my guys if you work hard for it, you can make it come true. Hard work and dedication pay off, and that’s what has taken me to this point. So, that’s all for now; I wanted to share how great this feeling was, and that I know people like me can also achieve their dreams”.

The metal festival

Knotfest is a music festival developed in 2012 and created by the heavy metal band Slipknot. It is considered one of the most important music festivals in the world because, in its ten years of history, it has taken the “sinister carnival” to countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, France, Chile, Mexico, and others. In addition, year after year, its line-up is made up of the best rock, metal, and heavy metal bands in the world.

The group “saw the need to open a space for the public hungry for strong sounds.” In addition, percussionist, backing vocalist, and band member Shawn “Clown” Crahan stated to Rolling Stone magazine that: “It’s about having fun and bringing something to the world of rock & roll, taking it to the level it used to be (…) It’s time we encompass this idea known as Knotfest, where we have control; we make a day dedicated to our mentality, our ideas, the people we want to play with, and the people we think our fans want to be around”.

The dark carnival

The first two Knotfests were in the U.S. midwest (a region encompassing Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin).

The aesthetics of Knotfest are distinctive. In addition to the music, it has had museums with some of its band memorabilia and elements such as circus tents, sometimes amusement parks, and burlesque ‘shows,’ among other attractions.

It was in 2014 when it made the first international edition of Knotfest during a two-day event in Chiba, Japan. In 2015, they went to Mexico. Finally, in 2018, Colombia appeared on the festival’s map.

Today, Knotfest is no longer just a festival but a celebration of music, art, and culture at total volume. To expand the genre and grow the community. Knotfest aims to captivate this culture in every aspect, offering fans an elevated experience in visual, audio, and written editing focused on their musical needs, content desires, and more.
