Going to a Coldplay concert – Tatiana’s goosebump moment
“Hello, my name is Tatiana and I come from the Republic of Moldova. My goosebump moment was when I realized that I could go to a concert by Coldplay. They were and they are my favorite band. It happened when I was in the USA, in Florida. I was checking a social networking site and I saw that one of my friends went to their concert, which meant that they were on a tour in the USA. I checked for their next concert, which should have been in Dallas, in Texas. So, I contacted my friend who was in Houston, we decided to buy tickets. The next step was that I bought flight tickets and then I realized that I am actually going to their concert. I felt real goosebumps, I cannot express them myself, I cannot express them to you right now. I felt so grateful, so happy, so… yep, that was my goosebump moment. I wish you all as many positive goosebump moments as possible. Bye!”
A complete sensory experience
Undoubtedly, Coldplay is one of the bands that has marked the most with its songs and concerts. It must be recognized that they have very good songs, the kind that, even though the years go by, we continue to listen to on the radio, mobile phone or computer as if it were the first time.
Coldplay is one of the most famous British pop rock and alternative rock bands of recent times and it could also be said that they are special in their field. Since their origins back in 1996, the band made up of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jon Buckland has not stopped surprising us.
It is the reference band of many generations, which shows every time the group is mentioned as one of the most special. The lyrics that complete the group’s songs are full of energy and could even be called magical.
Why should you listen to Coldplay?
In their lyrics, feelings and emotions do not go unnoticed. Listening to Coldplay is like traveling through the senses and a good example of this is the song by ‘The scientist’. The British band boasts in this song of the unusual ability to represent feelings with words and this ability is something that they aim to repeat in each one of their songs.
Coldplay is able to impress their fans with a new rhythm every time they release a new song. The acoustic sound of the band is fused with elements such as synthesizers and full orchestras full of different and innovative sounds. A good example of instrumental richness could be the theme of ‘A sky full of stars’.
The band is the soundtrack of many of the love stories that are lived around the world. The characteristic point of view of the band makes it impossible not to surrender to their lyrics.
Less sensitive people have succumbed on occasion to the charms of the band with songs like ‘Fix you’ in which they show that to be romantic you don’t need that touch of “cloying” so often present in love stories.
The most profitable band in the world
According to Forbes, the English band earned half a billion dollars, specifically $523 million, only in ticket sales from their last tour.
After 114 concerts, Coldplay is positioned to this day as one of the three artists with the most successful tours in music history, being only surpassed by the Rolling Stones “A Bigger Bang Tour” between 2005 and 2007, and the Tour 360 by U2 between 2009 and 2011.
In fact, this tour took the place of Roger Waters’ famous giant wall on The Wall Live Tour in 2010. With a total of 5.4 million in attendance, the tour was at least twice as massive as any other Coldplay tour.
Which explains that, although they have changed their style in a 180 degree turn between their debut album “Parachutes” (2000) and their latest studio work “A Head Full Of Dreams” (2015), and although they have not released new music, the band continues being one of the most profitable in the world.
How was Coldplay born?
It all came about when Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland met at the University of London in 1996. After some time thinking about forming a band, they managed to consolidate Pectoralz. Later Guy Berryman also joined the musical project.
A year later the band was renamed Starfish, by that time they were already doing some club shows. The next to join the group was Phil Harvey, an Oxford student who later became the band’s manager. Now, the original formation was completed with Will Champion, in charge of percussion.
After a while they were convinced to change their name, finally adopting the name Coldplay. On a weekend in Virginia Water, Martin met Tim Rice-Oxley, and realized his great talent on the piano, so he asked him to be the keyboard player for Coldplay, but he refused because he already had his own band, Keane.
They continued in search of a member for the piano. In 1998, the band released five hundred copies of the Safety EP. Of these five hundred, the vast majority were given away to record companies, friends, and family.
