The success story of Lil XXEL
Alex Perez, better known by his stage name Lil XXEL, is an American rapper and TikTok star. He is best known for the single called “LMK” which garnered millions of views.
Lil XXEL was born Alex Perez on October 14, 2000 in Orlando, Florida. Alex is of dual Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage. He started rapping when he was only 15 years old and studying in high school. He would be making music with his older brothers and had a family environment where his mother was always singing.
During his time in high school, he once made a disco song that became popular among his friends and that’s when Alex realized that he could make rapping his career. Growing up, he also loved playing baseball at the shortstop position and was even the team captain. He has fans of R&B and some of his favorite artists are Jeremih and Drake.
When Alex was in high school, his friends called him Lexx. He then decided to change the name to XXEL called “zell” and that’s when his stage name Lil XXEL was born. He would release his first single titled “I Can Tell” in 2019 on the Soundcloud platform, which is great for those starting out in music to gain exposure.
Lil XXEL was looking for more platforms for exposure and that’s when he came up with TikTok. Although he wasn’t sure at first how the reaction on the platform would be, he was surprised to see the huge range the platform could provide. He started posting clips of his music and the song LMK did very well among them.
